Vila Monte Farm House • Algarve, Portugal
If you’re dreaming of escaping, you’re not alone. How about to Algarve? Never heard of it? Still not alone. Think Amalfi Coast minus overcrowded tourism plus charming fishing villages and white sand beaches and you’ve got the coastal region of Portugal known as Algarve.
If you aren’t ready to pack your bags yet (let’s be honest- most of us will pack our bags for a decent restaurant and social environment at this point), maybe the citrus and olive groves of Vila Monte Farm House will convince you. Dripping in finca-style and pink bougainvillea, the bright and airy interiors are an enviable blend of rustic chic and contemporary minimalism. Just looking at images of Vila Monte will lower your blood pressure— imagine what a stay on the majestic grounds will do.
There is something timelessly simple about this hotel that keeps attracting me to it. The activity brochure says things like “sunbathing at a desert beach away from the crowds” and “a day at the farm” or “harvesting Flor de Sal” which I know is just harvesting your own sea salt, but I’m certain would be a rejuvenating experience in a place like Algarve.
I don’t really know if I can choose one single “best part” about Vila Monte, there are too many good things. Until then, I will keep looking at pictures until I can see it for myself.
