What To Gift Yourself…Inspired by Your Next Vacation
It’s been a long year. And I understand if you aren’t ready to take off for your next vacation right now, but you can at least treat yourself to a fun, travel-inspired goodie in the meantime. Below is a round-up of some of my favorite travel—inspired finds, for the beach, home and beyond.
MERCEDES SALAZAR JEWELRY & ACCESSORIES, COLOMBIA
I have followed Mercedes Salazar for a long time and I’ve always loved her jewelry, the color and detail adds a touch of fun to even the simplest objects. All of her pieces are made in alliance with local artisans from indigenous communities in Salazar’s home country of Colombia, where she draws inspiration for her collections. In 2019, Mercedes teamed up with Marriott’s Luxury Collection for a limited release inspired by the luxury collection resorts of Mexico. I love these Palm earrings for a festive detail at dinner, or just around the house when I need to drop a hint to my husband that it’s time to book a trip south.
COQUI COQUI, MEXICO
Coqui Coqui fragrances are made in the Yucatan region of Mexico and one sniff will seriously transport you there. Their reed diffusers are some of my favorites if you want to add a little scent of relaxation to your home. Just fill the tub, lock the door and pretend you’re sitting on the shores at the secluded Hotel Esencia- just one hour from the Coqui Coqui Perfumeria. The Coco Coco is my favorite fragrance if you want to bring the scent of the islands home.
ASSOULINE TRAVEL BOOKS, GLOBAL
Assouline is the go-to source for curating a well-traveled library. If you’re stuck at home, feed your wanderlust in the pages of their beautiful titles. Like this one, which features the iconic art-deco style pool at The Raleigh in Miami.
APOLIS TOTES, USA
Even if you don’t have anywhere exotic on your calendar soon, you can still pay homage to your favorite destination and advocate for social change with these stylish and functional market totes. With the ability to customize your bag with every detail from size to color to straps and text, you’ll at least look like you’ve been globetrotting—even if the only destination you’ve been exploring are from your doorstep.
JOHANNA ORTIZ PAREO, COLOMBIA
Johanna Ortiz is yet another Colombian designer that’s making a splash in the pages of Vogue. Something about the Colombian culture has got me captivated- maybe the lovely sounds of the music in the summer, the tropical drinks or the colorful streets ad boutique hotels. Until I can stroll the streets of Cartagena, Johanna Ortiz’s cover-ups are the next best thing. Stylish and breezy, I love the luxe travel-inspired look for by the pool or on the beach.
